10 things you'd tell your 16 year old self

4. List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.

Dear 16 year old self,

Here are 10 things I wish you knew when you were 16:

1. Boys are not everything. You will not marry that boy that is abusive, that you think you cannot live without. You do not need him to survive, but you will some what thank him one day. Thank him for doing what he is doing to you, because you will learn that is not a real man, and you will see his true colors and realize he is nothing but a little boy. He helped you pick and choose your future boyfriends, and he made you realize your husband is seriously the only man you have ever truly loved (besides your daddy).

2. Don't drop out of school. You will regret not ever going to Prom, and you will be bored out of your mind while all your friends are at school and you're stuck at home because you didn't care about schoole enough. Sleeping in all day isn't better than getting an education. (Even though you do have better spelling and grammar than a lot of the kids you went to school with, who did graduate)

3. Be thankful for you father when he lectures you. He is the best teacher you will ever have.

4. I'm so proud of you for sticking to your guns about "No drinking and driving". Your friend Jon Butler most definitely taught you something very important. You still miss him to this day, but because of him dying by drinking and driving, you have never done it, and you still never plan to. Good job.

5. You are NOT your mothers parent. You do NOT have to take care of her. Stop stressing out about what she says she is and isn't going to do, and be a KID. You will regret not being able to just relax and have fun when you get older because you were too worried about your mother.

6. Your brother may get annoying, and you may wonder why he wants to hang out with you so much, but just be there for him. Hang out with him, listen to him, and comfort him. He looks up to you and one day you will wish you showed him the right path in life instead of ignoring him and letting him get lost in all of his "Friends" ideas. You will miss him like crazy when you grow up and move away.

7. Be yourself. You spent too many nights trying to be someone you weren't, and impress people that weren't even worth it in the long run.

8. Your "friends" aren't your "friends". You will only have a handful of TRUE friends, and not even all of them are still around. Don't take your true friends for granted, and NEVER, EVER choose a boy over a friend. Trust me, it's not worth it. If you have to choose a boy over a friend, he isn't the boy for you. You haven't had to choose your husband over any of your friends.

9. You are going to have the most amazing husband ever. He is seriously a dream come true, and you are more than lucky to have him. You found him when you were least expecting it. He makes your feel like a princess, and you are truly in love with him. You will feel love one day, and it is definitely one of a kind type of love that only he can give you. You are a very lucky girl.

10. I wish I could warn you with all of the deaths you are going to have to face. So many people pass away in your life when you are young. Don't take your Grandpa for granted. Even though he may look healthy to you, he's not. Hang out with him. Go to dinner with him, and don't beg your dad to leave his house because you're bored. You will lose him when you're least expecting it, but you will never forget the feeling of his scruffy cheek when you kissed it every time you saw him. You will miss your Grandpa more than you will ever know, and you will realize how much he really means to you.
